Baselworld 2013: Casio PRO TREK PRW-3000 - New Sensor In Smaller Case
The Casio PRO TREK PRW-3000 for 2013 has been announced, and let me tell you why I am?particularly interested. In a nutshell Casio has released a smaller, sleek looking, very capable PRO TREK watch with improved sensors (at a reasonable price). You probably know that Casio PRO TREKs are found on the wrists of people engaged in all manner of outdoor activities, on mountain trails, in deserted places or for everyday activities where risking a very expensive watch is not an option.I have always been interested in compass watches in some form or another due to a?latent?survivalist?mentality that wanted to anticipate what equipment I would need in a?disaster scenario. Aside from food and water, a compass watch would always be in the mix, so that I could, in my?hypothetical?emergency, find my way somewhere to safety. This obsession is almost laughable now that I think about it.?Back in the days before the PRO TREK, I bought several of the early compass watches that Casio had introduced to the
bezel and bracelet
i recently bought my AP ROC s/s and experienced getting quite a few scratches on the bracelet and bezel during a night out..is it possible to remove these scratches? how so? some say polishing, some say buffing.. what is the best way to put it back to original? the scratches bother me as i love this piece.. once i fix em, i promise to use it on occasions I'm sure it won't get scratches.. i'll be extra careful..
Look What I Found (omega constellation)
Hey guys,I found this vintage Omega Constellation in a old suitcase. It belonged to my grandfather. I took it to an Omega dealer to inquire what it would cost me to repair and restore this watch. He said it would be upwards of $1000 and it's almost not worth it. I just came on here to get a second opinion. It is not in working condition and the dial seemed to have moved somehow. The dealer did open up the back and confirm the authencity of the watch. What would you guys do with this watch? Any advise is appreiated.
First Panerai: PAM183 or 609, p.5000 calibre
I am looking to buy my first Panerai and have narrowed it down to two options: PAM183 vs PAM609I'm based in HK (anyone got any recommendations for HK dealers AD and grey market?) and the prices of the two are pretty identical - I really like the look of the 183 with the cleaner, sandwich dial (I am not a fan of the 609's sausage dial) but feel like the in-house movement of the 609 makes it much more worth it for the amount of money. The power reserve of 8 days of the in-house P5000 vs the 56 hours in the ETA based Unitas movement is also a HUGE difference. I went into a Panerai boutique here and they quoted 3-5k HKD (approx. 390-645 USD) for servicing the p5000 calibre...and i've also heard of reliability/accuracy issues on this calibre, anyone can confirm? Also, How much does/did it cost to service the Panerai OP XI calibre (based off the ETA6497) and would that presumably cheaper cost justify purchasing the 183 over the 609? Does the 8 day power reserve and in-house movement trump th
My New Pepsi :D
Managed to acquire another Pepsi before the prices become far too expensive.Very much recommend Giles from Oakleigh Watches who sold this 2005 non lug holes example. Very happy with it and the faded Pepsi bezel is a sweet touch. I definitely recommend Oakleigh Watches as they are not based in London so the price was very competitive indeed especially since I got a full set.
