Field Test: Davosa Military
I've pretty much always been a dive watch guy. I own a dress watch and a vintage field watch, but almost everyday a dive watch is what I reach for in the morning. This is somewhat intentional as I've learned I'm really hard on my gear and watches fall into that category for me. Dive watches are built for unforgiving environments and so I've defaulted to them. So when I got the opportunity to test out Davosa's Military Vintage Automatic watch it was somewhat outside of my norm, but I jumped at the chance.Davosa is a Swiss Made brand with a line that ranges far and wide. From dress watches, to tritium tubed chronographs, to quartz watches they cover a lot of ground. The Military Vintage Automatic falls in their Automatic line and is somewhat difficult to define. It takes inspiration from both vintage big crowned field watches and big crowned pilot watches. It's one of my favorites amongst their broad offering. Crazy experience I had with an AP owner at airport
I just had to share this. So I am waiting in line ready to board a flight with my wife and kids. The guy in front of me is wearing a really shiny silver 44mm ROO. So I wait to asking in as it has a blue rubber strap if that is the SS navy. His eyes light up and says no, but I have one at home as well. So I comment as I noticed how shiny and bright it looks. He looks at my wrist and sees I am wearing my DSSD, he then asks me if I want to try it on. Sure, he takes it off and I hand him my Rolex. I am holding it and comment how heavy it is for a stainless steel, and mention I have had SS AP before and it didn't feel like that. He says no, it's not SS, I then looked up at him and I said, holy crap, this is the platinum. What a really cool and nice guy, he says rarely anyone notices the watch and he was super excited to meet someone who loved watches. Crazy nice things happen in WIS land. Suggest a strap (NATO? Bund?) for my vintage omega
I have an old 60-70s Omega constellation which came with a steel bracelet.I've tried putting a black crocodile but it just doesn't look quite good and it gets 0 wrist time.I was thinking I could revitalize the look with maybe a NATO strap or a bund strap.Any suggestions?Has anyone seen a conny on nato?Another thing is I was wondering what you guys think about polishing the case.
