You don't often see watches like this in pairs, but up on eBay for sale are a couple of 18k gold Kobold Polar Surveyor watches. One is all gold with the lovely metallic blue Kobold face, and other other is gold with a alligator strap and a black face. The bands are obviously interchangeable. Kobold watches are rare in the watch world for being an American company. Based out of Philadelphia, they use mostly swiss components are designed to be very rugged and functional. Knowing their upmarket appeal, Kobold does offer some of its pieces in gold as these two are.A Kobold watch is meant to be fully functional and reliable and deep depths, and very cold temperatures. Their base Valjoux 7750 movements have been modified to include a AM/PM indication. IN THE SHOP: Eleven New Vintage Watches For Sale, Including A Mint, Full-Set Red Sub, A Grail Amongs
And we're back! Yes, after dropping 12 vintage watches last Wednesday (of which 10 have already sold) we've decided to keep the hits coming with 11 new additions to the H Shop. This time we've found a few blue-chips, as always, like the most amazing Red Submariner you will ever see (complete with every accessory you can ever ask for), the insanely rare and highly sought after solid-gold Heuer Carrera from 1960s (find another, we dare you), and more. Have a glance below for some details and check them all out right here in the HODINKEE Shop. 1970s Red Submariner With Full Boxes, Papers, Hang Tags, And More 1 OF 10 For years, the Red Submariner has been atop the kingdom of non-gilt-dial Submariners, and it has always been a fan-favorite among vintage watch lovers for its single line of red text and immensely useful date window. The Red 1680 remains an all-time classic that readers have actually written in to request, and us being us, we've gone ahead
SMP - Gym Shots
Hello all,I'm a long time lurker--1st time photo poster. I wanted to share some photos of my knock around (an Omega SMP) in its natural environment (the gym).
Birth year watch
My old mans 65 in a couple of months and I would love to get him an Omega from his birth year 1946. Has anyone got any dealers in the UK they would recommend I contact? He isnt in to watches like I am but it would be nice to get him a good quality vintage.
116618LN vs 228238 in yellow gold
I really want a cool all precious metal Rolex. I have owned a 36mm Day Date in YG 20 years ago and sold it (mistake!). I tried on both the 228238 and the 116618 LN at my AD yesterday. Loved them both, but the Sub is definitely more sporty. This would not be a daily wearer. I would wear it for special occasions, out to dinner, maybe on vacation, etc. Thoughts? I'm a 49 year old professional BTW.
