Bring a Loupe: Four Lots To Watch At The Bonhams New York Sale TODAY (Think Amagnetic Patek & Oversized Universal Compax)
As the 2015 auction calendar comes to its end, New York City takes center stage. While the much awaited Speedmaster auction takes place at at Christie's next week, there's also a more under-the-radar sale at Bonhams today – and this catalog may have been slightly overlooked, so there's a chance here for collectors to find great vintage watches without too much bidding competition. Let's take a look at four lots you should watch out for this afternoon, including a very interesting Omega Speedmaster with a bearish estimate. Patek Philippe Reference 3417 Amagnetic 1 OF 9 Quirky would probably be the best word to describe the Amagnetic from Patek Philippe. It combines the classical elegance of a dress watch with a characteristic (resistance to magnetic fields) of a tool watch, something absolutely unique in Patek's offering until the introduction of the Nautilus in the mid-1970s. Incoming, first non Rolex watch for me :)
Loving this 3570.50 that i got from a member of canwatchco, a Canadian watch forum. We dont have an omega boutique where i live and it was my first time seeing an Omega in person when it arrived today! I have to say i like it more than I thought i would...which is crazy because i liked it a lot in pictures. I really enjoy wearing the 116719 blro with all its heft and shine - but this speedmaster actually feels like love at first sight ;). Sad that i never gave this watch a chance until now.

Anyone else going tomorrow nite?
The Omega Fragrance...
I know it's a bit sad, but honest I actually enjoy the smell (and so does my wife)...
Show your NATO-strapped Explorer II
Hi everyone,I have incoming a Polar Explorer II 16570, which I expect to arrive next week. It will be keeping a company to my 14060M Submariner. As I wear the Sub on its bracelet I plan to put the Explorer II initially on a NATO. I am bit concerned that some NATO straps will not fit, particularly if they are on the thick side, e.g. Haveston straps which I quite like. The 16570 is the SEL/no lug hole case variant which I've read somewhere that the pins are closer to the case and hence the NATO straps need to be very thin to fit. Can someone confirm this? I will appreciate pictures of your 5 or 6 digits Explorers II rocked on NATO straps with some info about the strap itself. Bring them on!Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk
