Bring a Loupe: A Dressy Rolex, A Complicated Credor, And A Great Speedmaster To Start Off 2016
Bring A Loupe kicks off 2016 with an unexpected selection: the watches featured today are not the usual crowd-pleasing favorites but, for one reason or another, they deserve more attention than they generally get. We've found a fantastic vintage dress watch from Rolex, and a modern Seiko Credor with a moon phase complication. I will also highlight some of the best – and worst – listings from eBay this past week, from a very promising Gallet to a sadly fraudulent Breitling Top Time. Interesting convo w/ 10 yr old grandson
Yesterday I was talking about watches w/ my 10 yr old grandson. He said he didn't like the way they feel, but does like FitBits, etc. I talked w/ him about the uber cool engineering aspects of mechanical watches and showed him a video of the 4130 movement. He says wow.... look at all of those tiny parts. I then held up my wrist and commented on merits of a Rolex. He says.. wait, that's a Rolex? Maybe there is hope for the future after all. ;-)
