Bring a Loupe: A Selection Of Vintage Chronographs, Including A Rare Rolex 'Pre-Daytona,' A
This week, vintage watches are back in full force. In this Bring A Loupe you will find some heavy hitters, starting with a coveted Rolex "Pre-Daytona" with a black dial. Also expect to see an outstanding Heuer Skipper, an original Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic, and an unusual Type 20 from an unexpected source. Finally, a great Universal Geneve Tri-Compax just came back on eBay, but maybe not for the better. This is your Bring A Loupe for March 25, 2016. A Rolex 'Pre-Daytona' Reference 6238 With Coveted Black Dial 1 OF 8 The reference 6238 is often considered as the starting point of the Daytona line, as it displayed the modern-looking dials that can then be found in the first Daytona, the reference 6239. The 6238, nicknamed the Pre-Daytona, was launched in the early 1960s, only three years before the introduction of the reference 6239 C the first actual Daytona C that Ben described in depth here. Titanium Seamaster 300
New incoming this past weekend. I absolutely LOVE this watch. Some don't like the weight/feel of titanium. However, with this watch, it provides so many advantages. The blue dial alone is worth it, not to mention the fact that it just disappears on the wrist. Just fabulous. The adjustable bracelet is also very well executed. I like the Rolex Glidelock a bit better but still a nice design by Omega. With so many black-dialed, steel watches in my collection, it's nice to have this option of a different metal and dial color. My observations on timekeeping are very favorable. Since Friday evening, it's gained only 1.5 seconds. Very nice to see such accuracy. Below is a quick pic from today. Will try to take more later this week.
The MOST beautiful Omega!!!!!! WARNING: Lots of pics!!
10 years ago when I was 17 I bought my first swiss watch, an Omega Seamaster 2231.80. For me it was an achievement as well a birthday for myself! every penny was my own money so I was proud of myself. Before this SM I owned a NIKE chronograpph :) and before that it was a Coca Cola watch and some fakes. My local Omega AD was having a 50% discount on ALL MODELS!!!! They had RADO and Breitling as well.2 years later I sold the watch to fund an upgrade. Initially I was looking for a Rolex TT DJ but after I did more research I went for a Breguet 5907 which I brought back from Lisbon during a school trip. I even got the tax refunded in the lisbon airport even though I lived in Denmark. LOL These guys got no clue. I just hate paying tax!NOT MY PICAs you could imagine a young dude with a classic Breguet just dont cope so I swaped it with another dealer for a new Aquatimer Chronograph 3 years later which I still own today.Days moved on and so did my collection with added pieces from other brand
My Panerai 2013 SIHH conclusion .... FROM HERO TO ZERO !
I always was a big fan but that changed last year.I decided to wait another year. Now I've seen enough. No more for meLast year I did not understand the 424 and 425.These 2 dials were once real Limited editions ( PAM 249 ) On top of that they made the 448 and 449so re-editions from re-editions This year it even got worseMust be a good feeling if you bought a 25K 399The PAM 364 ... Again as a LE ?The new Bronze ... unbelievbleThe 508 .... uhhhh next year with power reserve I guess ?I ordered nothingCancelled something I was waiting forAnd will sell a few I ownnever been that much dissapointed
