Alain Silberstein Watches took active part in the quartz boom
It is quite surprising to know that it introduced a hands free smoking ring back then which was an instant hit. Today this company deals mainly in computers and other electronic gadgets. It started its watch expedition way back in the 70's. They were a major manufacturer of quartz watches during those days. That is to say that Alain Silberstein Watches took active part in the quartz boom and were quite successful in doing so.
Finally found Dad's 168.005 Constellation
I'm typically lurking over on the Rolex Vintage side; but, wanted to share a picture of my father's long lost Omega Constellation ref. 168.005 with a caliber 564 under the hood. Just got back from a cleaning and oiling and it's keeping extremely accurate time as one should expect from one of Omega's workhorse chronometer movements. On the way back from Vietnam by way of Hong Kong in mid 1967 my father bought this Constellation and a stainless steel Seamaster Chronograph with a cal. 321 which I have posted on this Forum previously and wear periodically. The Constellation has been hidden away for quite a long time and just recently surfaced. I just sourced The NOS 9 row BOR gold plated bracelet from Ted's Vintage Watches and while the gold isn't a perfect match; I'm liking the original look a lot. Speedmaster Patch Price
I'm going to try on a new Speedmaster Patch tomorrow. It comes with the wooden box and extensive paperwork. The price is ?2.5K, about ?600 more than a non-patch. Does this seem to be in the right sort of area? I may purchase if I can secure a discount - seems to be a buyers market at the moment.I will be doing a JJ and taking the loop. Anything other shopping advice you would care to pass along? Thanks
Omega Speedmaster 3510.50 Question
I have a Omega Speedmaster 3510.50 and would like to get a NATO band for it. Could someone tell me the measurement in mm between the lugs so I can get the right size? Thanks!
First Patek - 5146 / 5396 / 5205
Fellow Patek enthusiasts,I'd like to hear your thoughts on a first Patek. While I'd love a 5711 in steel, we all know the premium is just too high right now on the 2nd market. I'm OK building a relationship and growing my Patek collection over time. I'm current loving my BLNR and have on rotation a 116520, a 116400GV, a IW3799-01, and a IW3905-02.Let me know what you guys think!
