Tissot T-Touch Expert Solar Watch Released
We knew it was coming because we saw a prototype, but for 2014 Tissot will finally release the light-powered version of their T-Touch. Earlier in 2013, we brought you a preview of the new T-Touch Expert Solar from Tissot. They've just released the watch now at BaselWorld 2014, and it definitely looks like it's the "watch to beat" when it comes to an outdoor watch from a Swiss brand. Many people have come to love Tissot's over a decade-old T-Touch collection for its style, functionality, and character. The Japanese may have them beat in terms of functionality for a while, but Tissot finally catches up with a cool new collection.UPDATE (03-30 2014): We've added the hands-on video from Baselworld 2014The T-Touch line is known for the way you interact with the piece, via touches to the sapphire crystal. The T-Touch Expert has long offered the full complement of ABC (altimeter/barometer/compass) instrumentation we've come to expect from tech-oriented outdoors watches. The one big edge the c
Affordable Vintage: 1970's Longines Chronograph Diver
What if I told you that you could get an over-sized colorful chronograph from a celebrated marque with a legendary movement and a super compressor case for under $3k. Impossible? Not with Longines’ chronograph diver.Introduced in 1969 and produced in the 70’s, this was Longines’ top sport watch. It was available in three different configurations. Black dial with white subdials at 3 and 9 and a black subdial at 6, This variant is the first execution and comes with a rotating countdown bezel. They also made it with three white subdials on a black dial with a rotating inner bezel and a fixed bezel with a tachymeter scale for water skiing. Water skiing, you say? One of the Longines’ executives must have been a fan.The Super Compressor case was introduced by E. Piqeurez SA (EPSA) in 1961. It was conceived as an improvement for the diving watch. Instead of rotating a bezel on the outside of the watch, which could get knocked about and throw your dive time off, the Sup
Trusted watchmaker in New Jersey
Omega Speedmaster 3570.50 custom project to change dial and hands to mitsukoshi. Anyone know a great watchmaker in New Jersey who can be trusted to do this???
Strap Change Advice
I recently acquired a 5627A-001 and am interested in trying different straps with the watch. It comes with two strap and I am also interested in trying out one of the Rubber B straps for it. I read some postings about the difficulty in changing the straps because there is a screw that needs to be removed that retains the pin-bar at both both lugs and also one for the deployant clasp.Does anyone happen to know the correct size or flat head screw driver that fits these retaining screw heads?Would it be wiser to just take it to an AD and have them swap out the strap for me? It would seem that if I have the correct tool, it should be simple enough. Clearly, I would prefer to not mark up my watch trying out different straps, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Saw a 5724 and a 5522. At a Rolex AD!
Stopped into the local Rolex AD who still has my deposit on a SS Daytona, just to check in. Their store doesn't officially carry Patek, but one of the other locations does. She had what I believe was a 5724 with the diamond bezel and baguettes on the clasp. Not my style, but interesting to see. I mentioned something about that limited edition of 600 Patek and she brought one out from the safe. It was the 5522. It's the first two PPs I've seen at this shop. The 5522 was still in a bag, so I couldn't see it that well. The 5724 was really cool in that it has a mini-rotor, so the beautiful back is not obscured so much from view. I thought that was the coolest thing about the watch, but then again, I don't really know anything about them.I didn't take pictures, because I didn't want to look like a tourist.
