Blancpain 500 Fathoms Titanium Watch
Wow, I did not expect to see something so bold from Blancpain this year. This is a totally new route for their diving watches. At first I was torn about the look (didn't see to be much more than what Invicta could come up with), but then I began to appreciate the more subtle items. Retained are the sapphire crystal tops on the rotating bezel (such a nice feature by the way), and new are the hands, and the face. The hands are really designed for perfect legibility in both light and dark situations, not one or the other which is sometimes the fact. They also remind me of torpedoes. I think that is intentional. The wild looking lume on the face is also fucntion, and not just for show. Somehow, it seems to make the watch easy to read in the dark when you aren't used to simply using the hands.Blancpain opted to go with a light weight titanium case for this large 48mm wide watch. So I went back to the boutique to see the 5170G black dial. Been mulling over between the 5170G and 5070G. Well they had the 5270 Blue dial, which I never saw before. I admit to not being particularly enamored by the 5270 models beforehand (especially el chino) but I must say the new blue dial is really sweet. Great case too.IMG_2088 (1).jpg

has anyone else noticed the recent spike in the grey market for the Hulk? Seems a year ago they were 8.......now 10 bnib.Is this speculation about the end of the series......like the 16610lv run of 7 years or just hype? My AD got one in and i reserved it this week but i am told that there were a few folks that were desperate for it.......is this a sales hype or legit?Seems odd that a watch that has been out for almost 7 years is this hard to fund and trading for a premium like this......the SD43 is easier to get....and it should not be.....
