Watch Complications: A Brief History Of Useful To Useless
It seems these days, that in order to get truly noticed in this crowded watch market, the watch companies have taken the complication pact to boldly go where no one has gone before. It seems that the one-upmanship of each new watch release keeps breaking the sound barrier of mechanical complications : coaxial; tourbillion; moon phase; fly backs; geographic world time; minute repeater; perpetual calendars; split second chronograph; jumping hours; spitting frogs; dancing Bears; Topo Gigio. I'm ready to throw in the towel and wave the white flag I'm finally finding these complications to be unreadable, overkill, distracting, and above all, really get in the way of what a watch is supposed to dotell you the time.Of course, I must take off my hat and bow down to the gods of mechanical watch design who had the vision and conceptual ability to dream these mechanical wonders up, and actually bring them to reality in a finished product. 15300ST dial pictures please...
Hi,I decided to buy a 15300ST, but I'm not sure yet about the dial color. The black dial was my initial choice but I fear it might be too dark, also because it's matte. The silver/white dial was my least favorite dial because white is too dull imo, but after seeing some pictures in which the silver comes out a bit, I'm hesitating. In general I have the feeling that a white dial is more feminine? (sorry, certainly don't want to insult anybody but I have this impression). The blue dial is maybe the best 'compromise'. It seems a very dark blue, but not sure how it looks in different light conditions.A long story to ask you to post some picture of your 15300ST (or similar) with dials in real life light conditions, ie not the catologue or website picture of AP...I hope this will give me a good idea about how a specific dial will look on my wrist. Thanks in advance!!

I'm a new member here and looking to purchase my first Rolex. I first saw the submariner on my dad's wrist as a kid and thought it was a cool watch. My dad purchased it in 1967 for less than $500 and still wears it to this day. He was a dive master so he used it for its intended purpose. It's in bad shape, but I still admire the watch and as a result would like my first Rolex to be a sub.i1064.photobucket/albums/...psbhioxq0t.jpg
