Watch What-If: Rolex Sky-Dweller
"Watch What-If" is a special column on aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer that asks the playful question "what if an iconic watch you know and love was offered in a different style?" The idea embraces a good timepiece's core design and has fun by offering new colors and material concepts to stimulate your senses. These ideas may be provocative, artistic, or just plain silly. This is about fun, Photoshop, and the celebration of wrist watch design and experimentation. The original design we work off of will always be at the bottom of the article. The designs are brought to life by Beau Hudspeth who does the artwork and concepting after he and I choose the models and styles to focus on. These "special design experiments" are extremely time consuming and labor intensive but we hope you enjoy the results. Ideas and comments are more than welcome. Enough response may even lead to a round two of design of the same watch - so please comment below. You are also encouraged to suggest the watches that sho
Last Chance To Enter For Free Swatch Automatic Chrono Watch Giveaway
The holidays are more or less over, the gifts have been given - perhaps a few left dangling "in the mail" somewhere - but few surprises are left. Did you get the watch that you wanted? Did you even ask for it? My philosophy is that unless someone knows exactly what you want (and where to get it), watch lovers should not be given gifts by non watch lovers. You know how it goes. "The sales person at Macy's said you'd love it..." (cringe).Well you can still be surprised and get a change to win this lovely new Swatch Automatic Chrono "Simply Pure" model watch. I have it here just eager to get on someone's wrist. It is so lonely sitting in it's chic box. I did a review of a different Swatch Automatic Chrono watch, the "Silver Class" here - that is part of the same new collection of timepieces. Remember that is has a new ETA automatic mechanical chronograph movement inside of it. Retail price is $370. The drawing ends on December 31, 2009. Go out with a bang for the decade. It's here! My first AP.
My first AP! Went with the new 15202 jumbo. Was having good ol' DSW source a 15300 (which I'm still mulling), but he mentioned yesterday that he had an inbound BNIB 15202 (warranty dated this week) from his AD. I thought about it for a good 30 seconds and pulled the trigger. David had the AD drop ship it to my place and I received it this morning. The thinner case and 39mm size suits my wrists better than the 15400. As has been mentioned before, it wears a lot like a PP 5711 - which is also in my rotation. However, the 15202 bracelet is a bit more comfortable IMHO. I love the patisserie dial and its subtle color changes in different light. The detailing on the watch is insane - up there with my Pateks.Thank you DavidSW for another smooth transaction, and thank you Thomas (TSW) for bracelet sizing advice after some issues with overuse of loctite at the AP factory. Coincidentally, the 15202 arrived the same day I received my always-delayed copy of WatchTime featuring the RO Jumbo. Enough
Something Old & Something New
Just a few pics of my two Seamasters. The speedy bracelet on the newer was quickly replaced with the pictured Hirsch strap. Amazingly comfortable. The vintage is acting as my dress watch at the moment.
Tudor Pepsi GMT hand...too long?
I know its only been a day and haven't seen it in real life yet (and I truly would like to add the Tudor Pepsi GMT to my collection)But do any of you find the Tudor GMT hand kind of LONG (and actually extends past the minute track)
