It is no secret that in its heyday, the American watch industry was the best in the world. Brands like Hamilton, Bulova, Elgin, Waltham, and others were known for producing the best industrialized timepieces and today that legacy is kept alive in scant few places. Perhaps the only true watch manufacture left in the United States is RGM. Started by watchmaker Roland G. Murphy, RGM is located near Lancaster, Pennsylvania, a historic hub of American timepiece production.For the 2013 watches-dealer holiday giveaway, the lucky winner will accompany me (Ariel Adams) on a several day trip to RGM for a unique experience at how watches are made in America. We will spend two days at the RGM manufacture learning about how they make American watches the original way. Good day members I've been offered this locally and paying it consideration. Would appreciate any feedback- all criticism welcomed.From what little I have been able to read about this reference, it should have a DON bezel, I've been offered with this current decimetre bezel (possibly a service bezel)?This to me brings the question of originality of the others parts of the watch...Dial, hand set, pushers.All looks very fresh to me for a 50 year old watch. Would the experts kindly comment as what is important to me is a true and period correct watch.A 1171 bracelet is to be included but not pictured. Do I pass without the presence of a DON ?321 movement 8 digit- 25 m serial.Thanks

When Mrs Van D is away, a naughty Ruud will play. I would love one of these on my desk, I mean who wouldn’t? An absolute complete, utter waste of money but, and it’s a huge but with a capital B, they’ve just had a price adjustment. Yep, against the current trend of increases, these babies have dropped by about 40% and they’re down to S$4,300 (��2,350 US$3,170). Alas, Mrs Van D has put the blockers on a purchase. If she comes out to Singapore in four weeks and finds one of these in the house then she’ll pull down my Alan’s and grab my Jacob’s and drag them over my head! The California dial is my favourite (651, I think). So, worth the risk?
