My Favorite Apple Watch OS2 Updates & New Looks For September 2015
Today, on September 9, 2015, during Apple's press conference event, a series of updates for the Apple Watch were announced that rival the volume of news from when the Apple Watch itself was originally debuted last year at this time. In fact, Apple has made a lot of announcements today across various product categories from iPad to iPhone, and Apple TV to Apple Watch. For Apple Watch, the major announcements are really about some new aesthetic options (new cases and straps) as well as the new Apple Watch OS2 operating system. What I'd like to do in this post is sum up the new Apple Watch announcements that I am more excited about - especially having worn the Apple Watch since its launch.I originally predicted that Apple would debut an enhanced app store experience allowing for the download of third-party watch dials vetted by Apple that might even sync with new animated backgrounds on the iPhone. I was partially right in the sense that Apple did add some new watch dials with Apple Watch
Affordable Vintage: 1970's Zodiac SST 36000
Zodiac is a curious brand that, at its peak, made just about every type of watch you could imagine. Triple date chronographs, GMTs, 24 hour models, divers, dress watches and watches with all together novel designs were common place for this well regarded Swiss brand. Models such as the Sea Wolf, Olympos and Astrographic are classics in their own right, demonstrating great design and a remarkable amount of creativity. Zodiac was a genuine innovator amongst Swiss brands, and in the late 60's was one of the first brands to bring out an automatic movement with a frequency of 36,000 beats per hour (detailed timeline here). Referred to as their SST or Split Second Timing line, these watches guaranteed (literally) to be the most precise in the world. The idea being that the higher frequency movements, which "tick" 10 times per second, are more accurate than watches with a frequency of the more standard 28,800 bph. While the previous claim is likely debatable, a more obvious benefit to a 36k m

Panerai...are they still a big deal?
I haven't read or heard much about Panerai lately. Is the Panerai craze over?
Why I think the 116619LB "Smurf" is the best Watch in the World
So it's time for a little controversy. I decided to open this topic to share with you some reasons that lead me to find the Smurf the best watch in the world.First, in my view, the submariner is Rolex's biggest classic. I know, I know, many will say it's the Daytona or the Day-Date or this or that. But in my opinion it's the Submariner, the watch used by James Bond. Also, in my experience, every time I mention the Rolex name in some casual conversation to someone not into watches is the image of the Submariner that comes to mind. So, for the simple fact that, in my opinion, being the Submariner the classic Rolex watch, this makes it the most iconic watch in the world, or at least quite high at the top. It is the archetype of the watches. It can be used for all activities, from the deepest dives to the black tie dinners. Just look at this ad:So where does smurf come in at all?In my opinion, the Smurf is the submariner for the WIS. The fact that it is in white gold and the blue dial and b
