Omega Supports Solar Powered Flight
Solar Impulse is a prototype aircraft powered by the Sun, and on a clear April day over the Swiss town of Payerne, it took its first serious test flight. Seven years in the making, the goal of the venture is to demonstrate that it is possible to fly around the world using only solar power. The top of the craft’s wings are covered with 12,000 solar cells, occupying a wingspan of 206 feet – just a few feet shorter than a 747, yet the plane weighs only about 3750 pounds. The nearly $100 million project is headed up by Bertrand Piccard, the Swiss adventurer who completed the first non-stop around the world balloon flight in 1999. His partner is Andr Borschberg, an engineer and fighter pilot. On Wednesday, the Solar Impulse team took the first major step toward their goal with a test flight that lasted about 2 hours, during which they achieved an altitude of about 4000 feet. Later this year, the crew will test the plane’s ability to fly at night using lithium batteries.Om
Reactor Salutes 2008 NL MVP Albert Pujols
Southern California-based Reactor, maker of durable and progressive sport watches, has designed a special one-of-a-kind Diamond Nucleus watch to commemorate St. Louis Cardinals star first baseman Albert Pujols' stellar 2008 season. Considered one of the sport's best players, Pujols was voted the National League's Most Valuable Player in 2008. Reactor presented the special watch, featuring the Cardinals logo and Pujols's #5 on the dial, together with 2.25 carats of flawless VS1 diamonds on the bezel, to Albert at a Cardinals home game the week after the All-Star game. In addition, the company produced a second matching watch, which will be donated to the Pujols Family Foundation and auctioned off to raise funds for the charity. A Foundation spokesman believes the watch will bring between $35,000 and $40,000.Albert Pujols and his Diamond NucleusPujols has finished in the top 10 in the voting in each of his eight Major League seasons, and has finished in the top 4 seven times. Bremont Jaguar MKI And MKII Non-Limited Edition Jaguar Collaboration Watches
It was?just about six months?ago that English watch brand Bremont announced its new partnership?with fellow English car manufacturer Jaguar, and now, with the Bremont Jaguar MKI and Bremont Jaguar MKII watches, we see that collaboration result in the first series of non-limited edition watches. At Baselworld 2015, Bremont will debut two new pieces?inspired by the famous vintage?Jaguar E-Type road car: the Bremont Jaguar MKI, a three-hand model, and the Bremont Jaguar MKII, which is a bi-compax chronograph. What happened half-a-year ago was that?Bremont announced a limited edition of six time-only watches, inspired by the famous Jaguar E-Type race car C so much so that, in fact, the?watch?was?designed to be sold to the future owners of the six $1.6 million re-production?E-Types that Jaguar created?last year. The dial design was largely inspired by the tachometer (or rev-counter) of the E-Type, as the watch featured similar fonts and red-zone between 3 and 4 o'clock. The reason I'm telling
Why couldn't the 5205R be a little bigger?
I have never been so conflicted about a watch after buying it - love dial layout and moon phase. But it wears so small. Here next to my 39mm 1815 Chrono. Even the 38mm 5396 has a bigger dial than the 40mm 5205 (but don't like the layout as much). Have a good offer to sell if I want to move on. Hate to give up a beauty but not sure I can get past the size on my 8 wrist. Advice?
What?
.forbes/sites/hannahel...-pocket-watch/ Someone tell me I don't know how to read.....please. I just read that they want almost $72k for a pocket watch that has zero complications and not a single precious stone on it. (I'm not taking jewels for movement).Panerai, I love you, but but but.........really?
