Two Pateks Top $1 Million At Christie’s Hong Kong Sale
A Patek Philippe Ref. 2499R, 3rd Series, brought $1,210,466 at Christie’s May 30 Hong Kong sale. The perpetual calendar chronograph with moon phases in pink gold was manufactured in 1971. A Skymoon tourbillon Ref. 5002P with twelve complications manufactured in 2008 brought $1,164,008. Both sales were within pre-sale estimates. Other notable wristwatch sales included an F.P. Journe Centigraphe Sport No. 1, which sold to a Japanese collector for $465,170. A Harry Winston Opus 6 by Greubel Forsey realized $434,430. All prices include the buyer’s premium. An abbreviated version of Christie’s list of the top-selling lots appears below. The press release for the sale results can be viewed at the official Christie’s website, as can the complete sale results. The Patek Philippe Ref. 5004R. The Ref. 5002P Skymoon Tourbillon.
Well, I pulled the trigger again on an Omega . . .
Because of my love of nice watches and this forum, I felt I just had to have another watch. However, I simply don't like much of the current models offered by Rolex, especially when I factor in the prices. Although I must admit I read with interest about the Explorer moving to a 39mm case. Nonetheless, I didn't feel like waiting for one to show up at the dealers nor paying the price that will be asked for the new upsized edition.I can't express how much I really love my 36.2mm Railmaster, and I just knew a 39.2mm would look even better on my 8 3/8 wrist. The real attraction of the 39.2mm Railmaster is that unlike a 40-42mm sport watch, the extra size is used to enlarge the dial, not add a big bezel. Thus, the 39.2mm Railmaster offers its simple and beautifully elegant dial in 31.8mm as opposed to the 28.5 to 29mm dials found on the sport watches.Actually, all this is simple rationalization because I just plain old wanted another Railmaster. So, this morning I called my out-of-sta
Super Jubilee on BLNR
When I see this combo I honestly think it's gorgeous. Takes the BLNR to a whole new level. Photo courtesy of Loevhagen. Three questions. Can this bracelet be purchased in the US apart from the watch? How much? Does it fit exactly as it should or is there improper spacing between the lugs? Thanks.
Heathrow Rolex Discount?
Hi everyone. This is my first post. I'm sorry if this subject has been brought up, and beaten to death.I'm an American, about to move to the UK. I'll be working for the military, so I'm under the impression I'll be working under Notice 431: Visiting Forces.I'm looking to pick up a Stainless Steel Batman GMT Master II.I've seen other posts here and on other forums hinting that if a person goes to Heathrow, the AD dealers will give a discount equal to the VAT Discount. (Is this just for Terminal 5, or does this apply to all Terminals)I guess people are hinting that they are getting the discount equal to the VAT, and then they are also filling out the VAT 407 form. So, if I'm reading that right, it's a double discount. This seems to good to be true. I'm assuming this loophole, if it ever existed has closed. Please correct me if I'm wrong, as I'd like to know what the truth is.
Daily beater but which one..
looking for a daily beater..Currently I have..a) TT Sub(BLack) 116613LN - my first Rolexb) Daytona Ceramic (white) 116500LN c) AP 15202st Extra Thinb&c I added last year which I baby them because I am not going to sell them ever. Number A I don't wear it to work because I think its flashy and its not getting enough wrist time and I may or may not sell it in future because its my first Rollie and even my wife is against selling it.So I have short listed the following models1)Sub LV (Hulk)2)Date Sub LN ((black)3)BLNR (Batman)I would like to add Sub with date someday but Hulk's hype is getting into me and of course the dial of the hulk is stunning.
